Successful First Edition of the HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup

Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club proudly hosted on its grounds the first edition of the HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup exhibition match. Under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, the event was attended by royalty, VIPs and polo enthusiasts who came to watch two exhibition matches for the day featured twelve local patrons and eight professional polo players.

 

The patrons match was between Haafhd Polo and Salsabil Polo teams which ended at 4 goals to 3 in favour or Salsabil. The professionals match, the first ever 30 goal handicap match had top ranking polo players play under the team banners of Erhaab Polo and Nashwan Polo teams and concluded the game at 9 goals to 7.

 

Whilst the excellent display of polo was the main attraction, it was also a fun-filled family day out even for the little ones who spent time on the bouncy castle and on free pony rides. Guests watched the match from the sidelines in picnic style. In between matches, everyone was treated to Flamenco Andaluz, a beautiful performance by Team Z7 and the UAE National anthem was played by the Dubai Police Marching Band.

 

HH Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan Al Maktoum and Humaid Bin Drai, Founder and CEO of Bin Drai Enterprises, were called upon the stage to award the runners up and winners of the patrons and professionals match. The celebration continued on to a dinner reception attended by Polo Players and VIPs and the adrenalin-fueled day winded down with a great feast, a UV Fantasy Light Horse Show and live music by Fusion3.
